Moodubelle, 02 November 2010: Bhotam Boliye (Alban David Prakash Alva) is a well-known name in the Konkani literary circles. His third book of Konkani satires was released on the occasion of the Parish Day that was celebrated on Monday, 1 November 2010 at St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle by Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest in the presence of a large number of parishioners who had gathered to celebrate the Centenary of the foundation of the parish. Bhotam, Boliye was also felicitated at this occasion.
‘Katkutli.com’ is the third collection of satire stories by Bhotam Boliye, his earlier two being ‘Matsyagandha Express’ (2006) and ‘Air India Express’(2007). His third collection of 12 satire stories highlight the condition of Mangaloreans working in the Gulf countries, their life in Israel and politics.
Born on 16th August 1973 at Guddottu, Moodubelle, Bhotam Boliye is the son of late Albert and Hilda Alva. He studies up to PUC in St. Lawrence Composite PU College. Realising that he had the writing talent, Alban David Prakash Alva, adopted the pen-name of ‘Bhotam Boliye’ and contributed his first satirical article to ‘Kutma’ Konkani Weekly in 2003 published from Mumbai under the editorship of Henry D’Paula. Being encouraged by Henry D’Paula, Bhotam Boliye went on writing more than 50 satirical stories in various Konkani Weeklies including Kutam, Jhelo, , Rakno, Mithr and Divo. He also penned a number of poems.
Since 2004, Bhotam Boliye has been a regular contributor to ‘Suvaad’ the parish journal of Moodubelle. He has been devising Crossword puzzles and sponsoring the prizes in ‘Suvaad’. He has also written articles, poems and satires as well as interviews of personalities in ‘Suvaad’.
Presently, Bhotam Boliye is working in Israel and he was back in Moodubelle for the celebration of the Centenary of the foundation of the Belle Parish during which his collection of satires was released.
