Mangalore, June 4: The Mangalore Bicycle Club (MBC) has been launched in Mangalore to popularize cycling as a sport in the city.
Ganesh Nayak, the founder president of MBC, told reporters that the primary aim of the club is to make cycling accessible to everybody. The club has a wide variety of people, he said, adding that there are people who cycle to lose weight, to excel in racing, and so on.
He also said that the club intends to bring together existing cyclists and encourage new ones, especially the youth to take up cycling. He also said that sub committees will be formed in places such as Suratkal, Udupi, Ullal, Kundapur, Moodbidri, Manipal, and Karkala.
The club will organize rallies, events, and rides in a bid to bring professionalism to international standards.
Dr. Gopalkrishna Hebbar, Arun Nayak, Laxmeesh Shenoy, and Yogesh Shenoy were also present at the press conference.
