Body of jawan Anoop Poojary killed in J&K accident brought home

Mangaluru, December 26, 2024: The body of Anoop Poojary (31), one among five soldiers from Maratha Light Infantry (MLI) unit killed in an accident in the Balnoi area of Mendhar region in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, arrived in a special aircraft at Mangaluru Airport in wee hours on Thursday.

DK MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, Udupi- Chickmagalur MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Anand among others helped in shifting of coffin with mortal remains of Anoop from the aircraft to a vehicle parked outside the airport.

Anoop’s mortal remains will be brought in an open vehicle in a procession from Tekkatte to his hometown Beejadi, passing through Koteshwar. Arrangements had been made for the final rites, which will take place at Padushale in Beejadi, family sources added.
