Bollywood Star Suniel Shetty expresses pride in acting in Tulu film Jai

Mangaluru, Jan 19, 2025: Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has expressed his pride in being part of the Tulu film Jai, directed by Rupesh Shetty. Speaking at a press meet, Suniel Shetty said, "I am proud to be from Tulu Nadu. I have always wanted to act in a Tulu film, but the opportunity never arose until now. I am honored to act in Jai after being impressed by the story."

Shetty, who hails from Bappanadu near Mulki, said, "I visit my hometown four times a year. I have a desire to act in comedy films and hope to fully portray a comedian in a Tulu film someday. For now, I have a guest role in Jai. Let’s see what opportunities arise in the future."

The actor is currently in Mangaluru, participating in the film’s shooting, which is in its third phase. Song sequences are yet to be filmed. Jai is being hailed as a big-budget Tulu film with a focus on the coastal region. The movie has been shot in various locations, including Udupi, Kundapura, and Mangaluru, and features a stellar cast of local actors.

Following the success of Girgit, Gamjaal, and Circus, Rupesh Shetty has taken on another ambitious project with Jai. Produced under the banners of RS Cinemas, Shoolin Films and Mugrodi Productions, the film is backed by producers Anil Shetty, Sudhakar Shetty and Manjunath Attavar. Rupesh Shetty is not only directing but also playing a lead role, with the story and dialogues crafted by Prasanna Shetty Bailur.

The ensemble cast includes popular names such as Devadas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil, Raj Deepak Shetty, Aravind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Prasanna Shetty Bailur, Sandeep Shetty, Manibettu, and Umesh Mijar, among others. Adviti Shetty is playing the female lead.

Producers Manjunath Attavar and Rupesh Shetty were also present during the press meet, where the team shared their excitement about the project.
