Mangalore, June 1: A four member team comprising Shobhit Mukherjee, Shriyansh Chauhan, Rohan Maheshwari and Gaurav Pant belonging to ICAS (International Centre for Applied Sciences) of Manipal University have won the First Place in the India competition of ‘Dare to be Digital’, organised by the British Council, thereby qualifying to enter this international event. They entered the contest under team name ‘Team Ghazab’.
British Council along with University of Abertay Dundee had invited applications for the International Video Games Design Competition ‘Dare to be Digital’. This competition was conceived to allow a team of four young students with diverse skills such as a programmer, an artist and business studies from all parts of the world to produce a unique game prototype. The academic and industry experts in the UK scrutinised the game and shortlisted Team Ghazab through an interview.
Team Ghazab have come up with ‘Chaiyaa’ game concept which is the winning entry from India.
The team will be joined by a Scottish student – Murray Speight at Scotland to compete with fourteen other teams across the world to develop their games / education prototype. They will also gain from mentoring and practical support from experienced industry professionals while they are in the UK, thereby providing a platform to develop original, innovative and path breaking games.
All the prototypes of the games will be displayed at a special showcasing event in Edinburgh called dare ProtoPlay alongside Edinburgh Interactive Festival.
