Mangaluru, Feb 15, 2023: The management of CAMPCO has expressed its gratitude to the Union Government for increasing the minimum import price of arecanut from Rs 251 to Rs 351 per kg.

A Kishore Kumar Kodgi, Chairman of CAMPCO has said that the measure has been taken in order to  stabilize the domestic areca market in the backdrop of several representations from CAMPCO and other like-minded co-operatives like TUMCOS, TSS and MAMCOS.

It may be recalled here that during the recently held golden jubilee celebrations of CAMPCO, Chairman Kishore Kumar Kodgi had  submitted a memorandum to Union Minister for Home Affairs and Co-operation Amit Shah to increase the minimum import price of arecanut. Union Commerce Ministry too had recommended a hike in the import price, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje had informed.

CAMPCO and the arecanut fraternity has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman; Piyush Goel, Narendra Singh Tomar, Shobha Karandlaje and many others for their help towards the cause of revision of the notification on minimum import price.

CAMPCO Vice President Shankarnarayana Bhat K, Managing Director H M Krishna Kumar, Directors Krishna Prasad Madthila, Raghavendra Bhat Kedila and Jayaprakash T K, General Manager Reshma Mallya and Assistant General Manager Govinda Bhat were present at the press meet.
