CBEU inaugurates 7th 2-day conference

Mangalore, Aug 21: The Karnataka State Committee of the Canara Bank Employees’ Union (CBEU) inaugurated its 2-day 7th conference at Milagres Complex Hall on Aug 21, Saturday.


Comrade D. D. Rustagi, the general secretary of CBEU, inaugurated the conference and voiced his opinions on employee wages, bankers’ demands, and several other pressing issues. He also expressed the union’s willingness to protest against the recent price hike and said that the union will stage a state-level protest on September 7 against the poverty caused by price hikes.

Joint Secretary of AIBEA P. R. Karanth, who was the chief guest of the occasion, said that the union has succeeded in providing pension to retired employees and added that this was possible only because of the struggle of the All India Bank Employees Association. 


Comrade H. V. Rai, the general secretary of KPBEF; Comrade D. Luke Baskaran, the president of CBEU; and Comrade G. V. Sambasiva Rao, the deputy general secretary of CBEU, were the guests of honour. 


Comrade N. Munikrishnappa, the chairman of the state committee, presided over the programme. Comrade Walter Lasrado, the chairman of the reception committee, made the welcome speech. 


Ajay Manjrekar, the state secretary of CBEU; Jairaj K., the secretary of the reception committee; and Comrade Vasanth were also present.
