Mangaluru, Dec 01, 2022: CCB police have on November 30, Wednesday arrested an inter-state gang of nine dacoits notorious as the Saheb Ganj dacoity gang. The arrests were made in connection with the plot to commit theft in a jewellery store in Ullal police station limits by drilling a hole in the wall. Police have seized various implements from the arrested men.
Acting on a tip off that a gang from north India which was in a house in Thokkottu Manchila area, was hatching a plot to rob a jewellery store in Ullal, the CCB team led by Inspector Mahesh Prasad raided the place and arrested the accused.
Those arrested are Bhasker Belchappada (65) from Bantwal, Dinesh Rawal alias Sagar (38) from Gujarat, Mohammad Jamil Sheikh from Nepal, Injamam Ul Haq (27) from Jarkhand, Bista Roop Singh (34) from Nepal, Krishna Bahaddur Bogati (41), Imdadul Razak Sheikh (32) from Jarkhand, Bivul Sheikh (31) from Saheb Ganj and Imran Sheikh (30) from Jarkhand.
It is learnt the accused had come to Mangaluru by train about 15 days ago with an intention to rob a jewellery store in Thokkottu. Initially they stayed in a lodge near Thokkottu and then shifted to a rented accommodation near Thokkottu Manchila.
Police have seized gas cutter, oxygen cylinder, gas cylinder, gas cutting nozzle, cutting hose pipe, leather hand glouse, iron rod, machete, axo blade, hammer, screw driver, chilli powder, nylon rope and other goods. Three two-wheelers have also been seized. The value of the seized goods is around Rs 2.9 lakhs.
The police gathered hints of this gang while investigating into the recent cases reported from Ambika Road and Uchila and Natekal wherein bike riders were waylaid, attacked with rods and robbed by assailants.
