The Coast Guard had retrieved a body from the deep sea on the night of Saturday, and on Sunday, it was identified as Abdul Rahiman just because it bore the marks of circumcision. Ibrahim Kateel, the brother-in-law of Rahiman, said that the family has decided to claim the body and bury it on Sunday.
Venkatesh Pampana Gowda Hosahalli, the uncle of the Narayana Gowda (22), one of the six fishermen who went missing several days back, rushed to have a look at the body and said that it “looked like a piece of meat.” Since the body had no clothes and no skin, he doubts if it belongs to any of the six missing fishermen as bodies cannot get so decomposed and lose clothes in such a short time.
N. S. Channappa Gowda, the DC of DK, said that DNA profiling can be done to identify the body just as it was done during the plane crash. Seemanth Kumar Singh, the Mangalore police commissioner, said that they will first request the family members to identify the bodies as and when they are found and that DNA profiling will be done if the bodies cannot be identified.
