Mangaluru, Nov 5, 2023: The Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Southern Region, Kamal Bali, announced plans to focus on nine strategic tracks for the transformation of South India by 2047 during the inauguration of a new CII office in Mangaluru on Saturday, November 4. He highlighted that the CII’s office network in South India has expanded to 17, enhancing its ability to provide targeted support for the development of MSMEs in the Mangaluru region.
Aligning with CII’s national theme, the CII Southern Region aims to concentrate on pivotal drivers of growth that will foster economic advancement in the southern states. This strategic direction aims to facilitate the transition from South India @ 75 to South India @ 100, emphasizing transformation through competitiveness, growth, sustainability, trust, and globalization for the year 2023-24.
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration with state governments, Mr. Bali stated that CII will closely engage with them to establish state-level policies on manufacturing and Industry 4.0. These initiatives are pivotal in realizing the economic objectives and vision of the southern states. CII plans to create state-level task forces focused on digital transformation to support industries in their digitalization endeavors, preparing member companies for Industry 4.0.
Vijaykrishnan Venkatesan, the CII Karnataka Chairman, highlighted the organization’s expanded reach in Karnataka, enabling the provision of grassroots-level support to its members. Praveen Kumar Kalbavi, the Chairman of CII-Mangaluru District, expressed that the new office would bolster CII’s presence in tier-2 cities, offering specialized services to members in areas such as exports, food processing, and manufacturing. The office also aims to actively engage with academia and MSMEs in the region.
