Mangaluru, Sep 21, 2015 : Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary has alleged that some politicians and officials were misleading Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the controversial Yettinahole Integrated Drinking Water Project.
Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office On September 21, Monday, Poojary also alleged that the CM was kept in the dark regarding the project mainly with an intention of destabilising the Government. He also dubbed the project as a big scam and urged the Government to conduct a CID investigation so that the truth is before the public.
Poojary also debunked the Government claims that 24 TMC water would be available at Yettinahole and cited reports of Indian Institute of Science which said only 9.7 TMC water was available and out of that 5.8 TMC is utilised by locals and another 2.8 TMC water flows out, leaving only 9.85 TMC water.
Sharply criticising union law minister and former CM DV Sadananda Gowda for supporting the project which he himself had approved, Poojary said DVS was cheating the people of Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Tumakuru by assuring that the project would be implemented.
On a statement of Gowda that the Yettinahole issue should not be politicised and used to settle personal scores, Poojary said he has never done so at any time. “I am only speaking out for the cause of people of Dakshina Kannada,” he said.
Also lashing out at Health Minister UT Khader for frequently changing stance regarding the project, Poojary questioned if Khader had read the IISc report.
He also urged all leaders to approach Green Tribunal regarding the project. He further questioned the silence of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje regarding the project.
To a question if he would opt for a hunger strike, Poojari declared that he was ready to go on a hunger strike even for a week provided the government responds to the pleas.
No politicians are trust worthy. It is the public who face the problem in future and they are the only ones who really against Yettinole.
