Bantwal March 21: B S Yedyurappa, the chief minister of Karnataka, said that land will be identified for the establishment of a “gomala” or a grazing field for cattle after participating in the Shri Rama Nama Tharaka Manthra Japa Yajna, which is being held at Kalladka near here on Saturday.
The chief minister defended the anti cow slaughter bill, which was recently passed in the assembly, and added that when the bill becomes an act, additional grazing land will be required to support the rise in cattle population.
Assuring that his government was totally committed to the state’s development, he said that there is no chance of surrendering to pressure from the opposition because the BJP government has always followed pro-people policies and programmes. He said that the government will emphasize on education and rural development programmes, adding that the government has allocated more than Rs 10,000 crore for education and higher education and Rs 3,442 crore for Panchayath Raj and rural development.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the government was prepared to invest more for the development of better infrastructure in the state. In response to a query regarding BBMP poll, the chief minister said that, during the last 20 months, the BJP government has spent crores of rupees on developing Bangalore. He expressed confidence that the people of Bangalore will vote for his party because they knew about its contributions toward the growth of the city.
Claiming that the ruling BJP does not have rebel candidates unlike other parties, he said that the party has a strong base in Bangalore, including 3 MPs and 17 MLAs to help the party get the required number of seats to attain a majority in the civic polls.
Criticizing JDS Chief Deve Gowda and his son Kumaraswamy, the chief minister said that he was ready to discuss NICE with them if the JDS is open to such a discussion. He said that the party has not prevented the JDS from debating the issue.
State President of BJP Eshwarappa said that the BJP government is genuinely concerned about the welfare of the state.
Shri Vidya Prasanna Theertha Swamiji of Subramanya Mutt presided over the programme. Shri Ramanand Swamiji of Kolya Mutt, Shri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyur Mutt, Shri Mohandas Swamiji of Manila, Shri Dharmapalanath Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri, Shri Mukthananda Swamiji of Karinje, and others participated in the rituals.
