The Centre will run courses that will supplement the learning of students in addition to their regular college curriculum. Starting from 17th December, the centers are running the Summer Internship Program followed by two 6 month courses on Innovation and Design Thinking. In due course of time, programs in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Augmented Reality will be introduced. The fees for these courses will be very minimal to ensure easy affordability for students. VTU recognizing the merit of the COMEDKARES has extended support in recognizing the program with Credits.

Speaking about the initiative Dr MR Jayaram ( Chairman Comedk ) says, “The jobs and workspaces of today are getting increasingly technology-intensive. Data Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Meta are currently the buzzwords. Today, the majority of engineering students are not industry ready and hence, need hands-on experience to enhance their theoretical lessons provided by the colleges. Given the rapid pace at which technology and skills are evolving, a student needs to have suitable employable soft skills along with updated technological knowledge.” He further adds, “The objective of these hubs is to enable students of our Engineering colleges to benefit from these facilities, undertake projects, gain hands-on experience and nurture them into compassionate, competent technocrats. The design of the program is in line with NEP and will eventually foster a sense of entrepreneurship and improve employability of our Engineers.’’

“India today boasts of a rich demographic dividend, to reap the real benefits of that, we need to make our youth more industrious and employable. In the past decade, state governments and the central government have launched several incentive programmes to help the youth of India reach their full potential.
COMEDKARES is also a step in this direction, which is aligning college education and skill development for the youth of today”, says Mr P. Muralidhar, CEO, ERA Foundation.

Phase 1 will have 8 Innovation Hubs located at Mysuru, Kalburgi, Mangalore, Belgaum and four innovation hubs at Bengaluru. Each hub will be housed in a 5000 sq-ft state-of-the-art center. The Hubs will be equipped with high end equipment ( Wood routing, Laser cutting , 3D printers, AR-VR equipment , Hand tools, Computer SW , UI –UX tools etc).
