Mangalore, June 11: Former MLA and renowned poet L. Hanumanthayya said that the BJP is trying to introduce the cow slaughter bill into the Vidhan Parishad at a conference organized by the Communist Party of India (CPI) against the cow slaughter bill in front of the DC’s office on June 11, Friday. CPI activists also organized a jatha from Jyothi Circle to the DC’s office.

Declaring that the bill has been passed to protect animals and kill people, he said the advocates of this bill do not have proper knowledge about cows. He added that the number of desi cows has reduced drastically. He demanded to know if sheep, goats, and chicken, eaten by people who advocate the anti cow slaughter bill, do not have the right to live. He said that even Swami Vivekananda had said that Brahmins used to consume beef. 

State President A. K. Subbayya said that the BJP is being unjust to farmers and dalits by introducing the anti slaughter bill. He said that a large number of dalits and farmers do not want this law imposed on them, adding that even the Muslim Community of Karnataka is against this bill. None of the political parties are against the slaughter of cows, except the BJP party, he said. All political parties, including the Congress, the JDS, CPM, and SDPI are against this bill, he informed, adding that the bill is making only the Swamijis and saints happy. 

State Secretary of Raitha Sangha Veera Sangayya, K. L. Ashok of Karnataka Komusouhardha Vedike, State Committee Member of CPI (M) K. R. Shriyan, and many others were the chief speakers of the occasion. 

District Convener of the Karnataka State Dalit Sangharsh Committee Ananda Bellare made the welcome speech. Mohammed Kakkinje was the comperer. Victor D’Silva proposed the vote of thanks.
