Pro tem Chairman of the Legislative Council M.V. Rajasekharan administered the oath.

Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Sri D.H. Shankaramurthy were present during the function.

Capt. Karnik won for the consecutive 2nd time as MLC from the South West Teachers Constituency.
