Mangaluru, Mar 08, 2019: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has proposed to re-construct, Flower Market on Car Street and Karangalpady Market as commercial-cum-market complexes under Design, Build, Fund, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model, according to Bhaskar K, whose term as Mayor ended here yesterday March 7, Thursday.
It has planed also to build a commercial complex on its vacant land near the maternity hospital in Jeppu under the same model, he said.
Addressing the media on his last day in office, Mayor Bhaskar said that the council of the corporation has agreed to get financial feasibility report, the technical feasibility report, the design and concept paper prepared for the three projects. “The corporation has given the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to Transeindia Infrastructure and Advisory Private Limited to prepare the reports,” he said.
Emeritus Mayor, Bhaskar said that a multi-level car parking project will be built at Hampankatta at an estimated cost of Rs. 94 crore under the Smart City Mission. The contract of the project has been awarded.
Bids have been invited to re-construct the Central Market at an estimated cost of Rs. 145 crore under the same mission. The proposed bus terminal project at Pumpwell has not been finalised. The term of the MCC council including Mayor and Deputy ended yesterday March 7, Thursday.
