Mangaluru, August 19, 2020: APMC Chairman K Krishnaraj Hegde has said that the APMC has provided all facilities to the traders of Central Market to carry out their business at the APMC Yard at Baikampady.
Speaking to reporters here on August 19, Wednesday, he said all facilities like godown of a capacity of seven metric tonnes, lighting arrangements etc are provided at a cost of Rs 1.6 crores in the APMC Yard. There are plans to provide additional facilities, he said adding all facilities are being provided without collecting any rent or fee from the vendors.
His statement comes in the backdrop of the recent move by some traders to return to the Central Market to carry out their business. However, Deputy Commissioner has now issued an order to close the Central market in view of Covid Pandemic.
During the lockdown the MCC had ordered that all traders at Central Market had to shift to APMC Yard as it was difficult to maintain social distancing at Central Market.
