Mangaluru, September 27, 2020: Following a High Court order, some shops at the Central Market in Mangaluru have opened shutters this morning. Though the main gates of the market is not yet open, traders are hopeful that  the Mangaluru City Corporation officials would ensure electricity and water supply to the  building by Monday. In the meantime, brisk business was noticed  in the shops surrounding the central market on Sunday.

It may be recalled here that the High Court had in a recent order asked the  local authority to permit  business in the Central Market. It has also instructed licensed merchants to contact the Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner with all documents. Accordingly, several merchants have submitted their documents
