Mangalore, January 14: Pratik Prakashbabu Patil, the minister for youth and sports, visited the office of the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee today. The elected representatives of the district and the members of the DKDCC welcomed him warmly.
Mr. Patil interacted with the members of the DKDCC and said that he had an opportunity to study in Mangalore, but did not use it. He said that he often visits Mangalore with his father. He was full of praise for Mangalore, its scenic beauty, and the caliber of the people of Mangalore who have achieved a lot in different sectors all over the world.
MLA U T Khader, who was present during the interaction, requested Patil to provide the required sports ground and to encourage the local talent. He asked him to pay special attention to Kabaddi and other traditional sports.
Mr. Patil responded that the central government is willing to provide all the required facilities for the development of youth and sports through the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The demand for a hostel and a ground for the Sports Authority of India in Mangalore and Shimoga is yet unfulfilled because the state government has not yet provided the land required for it. The central government is willing to take up the work if the state government provides the land for it, he informed.
