Clash erupts between two Sunni communities at Ullal Dargah

Mangalore, Oct 18, 2013: A clash erupts at Syed Madani Darga Jum’a Masjid in Ullal followed by the dispute between two Sunni communities over the Juma prayers on October 18, Friday.

According to the sources, the quarrel aroused between Ullal Darga Committee (SKSSF) and New Masjid Committee (SSF) over offering first Juma prayers, after Eid-ul-adha at Ullal Darga premises.

Previously, Ullal Darga Committee had sought permission from Waqf board to stop the members of new committee from offering namaz in newly built Dargah constructed opposite old Ullal Dargah. But more than 1000 members were assembled in the Mosque premises to enter for namaz, as they had sought permission from Qazi to offer namaz. Unfortunately Qazi was not available and they were restricted to enter.

The police who visited the spot had tried to control the situation, but when the crowd went out of control, the police had to subject to lathi charge. During the clash, few police officials have sustained minor injuries.
