Cleanliness drive launched at Kankanady Market

Mangalore, Oct 29, 2014: A cleanliness drive under the “Rashtriya Swachatha Abhiyan” was launched at the Kankanady market in the city on October 29, Wednesday under the joint auspices of the Mangalore City Corporation and the Kankanady Market Traders Association.

Gokuldas Nayak, in-charge Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation who spoke on the occasion, said the MCC was committed to make the city a much cleaner place and added the drive will continue until November 25. He said such cleanliness campaigns will be held at different places by joining hands with various organisations. He further assured that one place in the city would be cleaned up every day.

Environmental Engineer Madhu SM, Health Officer Dr Manjayya Shetty, local corporator Naveen D’Souza, Traders Association President Ali Hassan, Roshan Patrao, Secretary and other shopkeepers of the market actively participated in the drive.
