Mangalore, April 18, 2013: Congress candidate from Mangalore (Ullal) constituency UT Khader filed his nominations for the Karnataka Assembly elections, at the DC’s office here on April 17, Wednesday.
Speaking to the waiting media men, Khader said he has filed his nomination with the support of the public and blessings of religious heads. He also exuded confidence of a win with the due backing of the party workers, leaders and the electorate of his constituency.
To a question if the presence of other Muslim candidates in the constituency may lead to a split in votes, Khader said he was sure that the presence of other minority community candidates would not come in the way of his win.
Several Congress leaders including Ivan D’Souza, Ibrahim Kodijal and Sadashiv Ullal were present.
Khader had earlier offered prayers at the historic Ullal Darga prior to filing his nomination.
