Mangalore, May 25, 2013: Former union minister and senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary has said that Congress has never resorted to revenge politics and will not do so even in the future.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on May 25, Saturday he said that revenge politics is practiced by BJP and cited examples of attacks on churches and mosques. A TV journalist who highlighted incident of moral policing too was sent to jail by the former BJP government, Poojari recalled.
Speaking on separate taluk formation issue, Poojary said that Congress Government will undoubtedly make Byndoor, Kadaba and Mulki taluks a reality. The years of efforts of locals in this regard will not go waste, he assured.
On the Jail Bharo Andolan planned by the BJP, Poojari said he was happy over it as they (BJP men) are the ones who are supposed to go to prison. If they have the guts they must remain in jail for one month without any bail, he said. At the same time, Poojari said instead of ordinary BJP men, leaders like Eshwarappa, Somanna and Murugesh Nirani must be sent to jail so that they get used to the environment where they will land in the future.
Referring to the complaint filed against ACP T R Jagannath by a lady ASI, Poojary said a thorough investigation should be done to ensure that women worked in a secure environment.
Congress leaders Vijaykumar Shetty, Suresh Ballal, Harikrishna Bantwal and Kallige Tharanath Shetty were present.
