Mangalore, Sep 20, 2013 : Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo distributed waste segregation bins to residents of Court Ward on September 19, Thursday on behalf of the Mangalore City Corporation and Karnataka State Pollution Control Board as part of the initiative to make Mangalore Clean and Beautiful.
Speaking on the occasion, Lobo said the project aims at ensuring efficient recycling of the wastes and added in the future even e-bins will be distributed. He pointed out that the growing city of Mangalore was generating huge quantity of solid wastes and the need for effective waste management was more important.
Ajith S Hegde, MCC Commissioner said the waste segregation bins were symbolically distributed today and added such programmes will be held in all wards in the future to ensure that all homes received such bins.
Prameela, Revenue Department Deputy Commissioner. AC Vinayraj, local corporator, Premchandra, Devadas, former corporators, Madhu Manohar, Environmental Engineer of the MCC and others were present.

Great step in the right direction. Now, the leaders of the society; rich-educated and the influential of the society will have show to the public that they are doers.. so everybody try to pick up some waste they see and place at the containers. That would be watched by others and the culture of cleanliness can be spread like a new culture of the society. This is the only way to make our cities cleaner through public participation.
