Udupi, Jan 12, 2025: The Udupi Town Police have registered a case against Meenakshi Sehrawat, who identifies as a cultural orator on Instagram, for allegedly making false and provocative statements during a speech at an event in Udupi on January 4.

A few days ago, Dehradun-based thinker Meenakshi participated in the "Vishwarpanam" program held at Poornaprajna Auditorium in Udupi. During her speech in Hindi on the topic Bangla Path (Lessons from Bangla), Meenakshi stated that Mahatma Gandhi, along with Jinnah, was responsible for the creation of Pakistan. She further claimed that Gandhi advocated non-violence to weaken Hindus and remarked, "We do not accept him as the Father of the Nation."

Sehrawat has been booked under Sections 353(2) and 353(3) of the BNS Act. Govinda Nagaraju, the administrator of Udupi Adanaru Mutt and organizer of the event, has also been named in the FIR.

According to the complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Punith Kumar on January 5, Sehrawat questioned Mahatma Gandhi’s title as the "Father of the Nation" during her talk on “Lessons from Bangla.” She allegedly claimed that Gandhi promoted non-violence to weaken Hindus, police sources said.

“They have filed a case against me for speaking about Gandhiji. However, cases are never filed against those who insult Hindu freedom fighters like Veer Savarkar, Bhagat Singh, and Hindu deities like Bhagwan Shri Krishna and Shri Ram,” criticized  activist Meenakshi on X.
