Mangaluru, Mar 28, 2019: Serial killer Cyanide Mohan alias Mohan Kumar has been sentenced to life in two more cases of murder of women. The sixth Additional District and Sessions Court passed the judgement on March 27, Wednesday. With this Mohan has been convicted in nine out of the 20 cases against him.
On Wednesday the court convicted him in connection with the case of murder of a 34 year old beedi worker in Bantwal. The murder took place on January 23, 2009 at the KSRTC bus stand in Madikeri where the woman was found dead. The other case pertains to a 32 year old woman from Peraje in Madikeri taluk. She was found dead at the KSRTC bus stand at Mysuru on March 10, 2009.
In all the cases, the modus operandi of Mohan was the same. He used to first befriend the women, take them to a lodge, rape them on the promise of marrying them and then give them cyanide pills after making them believe that it was a contraceptive.
In both cases, Mohan has been given lifer without any remission. A fine of Rs 3000 each has been imposed under different sections of IPC for five of his offences including robbery, destroying evidence, rape, administering stupefying drugs and cheating.
