Cyclist dies after being hit by speeding car near Moodbidri

Moodbidri, July 28, 2024: A cyclist was seriously injured and died as a result of being hit by a car near Puthige Padavu Handeelu on Friday. Ramesh Anchan (65), a beloved vendor from Puthige Padavu Handeelu, who had been popular for selling fried snacks, including chakuli, and traditional Tulu drinks at the Moodbidri market’s weekly fair for several decades, is the deceased.

In the evening, while he was cycling near Puthige Padavu Handeelu, a car coming at high speed from Kallamundkoor hit him, causing severe injuries to his head and leg. He was admitted to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries later that night.

After the Moodbidri Sunday Market was relocated to Swarajya Maidan, he continued his duty as a pump operator for the Puthige Panchayat. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station.
