Udupi, December 28: Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha launched nine “Hoysala” mobile patrol vehicles of Udupi district police by flagging them off here on Monday.

According to the Udupi district police, the Hoysala mobile patrol vehicles work round the clock.


Wireless

They were linked to the police control room through wireless communication. They respond to calls as directed by the police control room.


These patrols give information on crime from the spot to the control room. The global positioning system (GPS) were installed in these vehicles.


Well equipped

These vehicles were equipped with necessary arms and ammunitions, first aid, fire extinguishing equipment and public address system.


These teams play a vital role in controlling a crisis situation till the local police reach the spot.


These patrols can help during road accidents, building collapses and natural disasters.


These patrols could chase criminals and miscreants, and catch them.


Ambit

A Hoysala mobile patrol each will be working under the police station limits of Udupi Town, Manipal and Hiriyadka, Malpe, Kaup and Padubidri, Kundapur, Brahmavar and Kota, Gangolli, Byndoor and Kollur, and Karkala.
