He also spoke about his experiences during the two-week training he attended at America. Speaking about solid waste management in America, he said that the people of America spend $10 daily in door-to-door collection of solid waste. America also had recycling bins every 50mts for glass items, newspapers, mixed papers, and others. People throwing items into these bins are caught on video, and those who dump all types of waste in one bin will be fined.

Regarding housing colonies, he said that the corporation in America makes decisions regarding each MIG Colony. Each house and commercial outlet must be fitted with cold and hot water taps; otherwise they will not be certified, he said.

Traffic laws are also strictly followed in America, he said. Whenever a driver violates traffic rules, a point will be added to his/her license; and the driver will lose his/her license as soon as he/she gets more than 12 points.

President of DK District Working Journalists’ Association Harsha presided over the programme. Press Club General Secretary P. B. Harish Rai made the welcome speech and proposed the vote of thanks.
