Mangaluru, Nov. 25, 2015: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has asked Kasturba Medical College to renovate 150 years old Government Wenlock Hospital on par with Manipal Hospital in next five years.
Deputy Commissioner chaired Wenlock District Hospital Health Raksha Committee meeting held on Wednesday in DC office. “People from five to six neighboring districts visiting Wenlock District Hospital for treatment and the hospital building constructed 150 years ago. This hospital requires good infrastructure for treating large number of poor and lower middle class people”, Ibrahim said.
KMC dean Dr. Venkataraya Prabhu was present in the meeting.
Dr. Rajeshwari Devi, Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital informed the meeting that the hospital stood second place in Biomedical Waste Management Scheme and won Rs. 20 lakh under hospital rejuvination scheme of Health department.
Indradanush vaccination
Under the Mission Indradanush 2015 third round of vaccination for pregnant women and children of 0-2 years age group will be conducted from 7 December 2015 to 15 December 2015, District Health and Family Welfare officials announced.
Arrears of monthly rehabilitation pension have been released for 417 newly identified endosulfan victims for the period of 2014 March to May 2014, a HFW communiqué said. The Health department released the pension out of available fund following instruction from DC Ibrahim., sources said.
