Mangaluru, Dec 03, 2022: International Day of People with Disabilities, organised at the Kudmul Rangarao Town Hall in Mangaluru was inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar M R on December 3, Saturday. The event was organised by the DK District Administration in association with various organisations.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said the district administration would strive to respond to the problems of people with disabilities and will ensure they get all facilities.
District Civil Judge Shobha, entrepreneur Ganesh Shetty and others were present. Teachers who are serving institutes meant for the disabled were honoured. Differently abled people who have excelled in various fields were also felicitated. Hearing aids, wheel chair and other assistive equipment meant for the disabled were distributed to the beneficiaries.
The DC earlier participated in a jatha of special children and on one occasion affectionately hugged the special children who were part of the Huli Vesha team. He also immediately responded to the plea of a mother with two differently abled daughters and ensured the monthly aid of the differently abled kids are released on time.
Incidentally none of the elected representatives of the district were present at the event despite their names printed on the invitation card.
