DC orders immediate relocation of residents in landslide-affected Kavoor Sujikal Gudde

Mangaluru, June 28, 2024: District Commissioner Mullai Muhilan visited the landslide-affected areas of Kavoor Sujikal Gudde, where several houses are in dangerous condition due to heavy rain and landslides. Upon seeing the severity of the situation, he instructed the Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation to immediately relocate the residents.

The excavation of soil for the construction of houses in Kavoor Sujikal Gudde has caused several houses to be on the verge of collapse. Consequently, he ordered the halting of private house construction activities in the area.

The DC also inspected the landslide-affected areas in the Kenjaru Shri Devi College premises and the collapsed concrete retaining wall in Maravoor Anthoni Katte.

Additionally, the District Commissioner visited the landslide-affected area near the ISPRL pipeline close to Baala in Suratkal and instructed officials to take immediate action. He also ordered the erection of a protective fence near the adjacent public road.

During this time, Additional Deputy Commissioner Santosh Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Harshavardhan, and Tahsildar Prashant Patil, among others, were present.
