DK rural police return property worth Rs 9,99,082

Mangalore, November 14: The DK rural police returned property worth Rs. 9,99,082 of the Rs. 11,03,082 that they had retrieved in August, July, and October to its rightful owners. 

 

 

 

 

SP A. Subrahmanyeshwar Rao told reporters during the quarterly property returns parade that the rural police recovered property worth Rs. 62, 68,334 of the property worth Rs 1,52,03,465, which was reported to be stolen. Around 90 percent of this property has been handed over to the rightful owners; and the remaining property will be handed over after receiving the court order, he said.

Appealing to the people to cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order, he said that the police are facing the problem of severe shortage of staff. He urged NGOs, community watch, neighborhood watch, social activists, and others to cooperate with the police department and help out in cases of communal riots, underworld activities, and VIP security. He also urged the public to follow the recommended safety tips against criminal activities.

The district police now have crime scene investigation kits, which include 64 items such as digital camera, fingerprint kit, voice recorder, rubber gloves, and so on. The SP expressed confidence that the kit will facilitate investigation, make it more professional, and will also make the various investigative phases transparent. Police constables will receive training to hunt for clues on the scenes of the crime with the help of this kit, he added.
