Mangalore, july 7,2012:Addressing the gathering at the Tulu Academy’s monthly chavadi, Ganesh Amin Sankamar, folklore expert, said that worship of daivas has made Tulu culture rich and has even developed its language.
Stating that languages do not develop only through reading and writing, he said that the tradition of worshiping daivas has also played an important role in the development of Tulu language. He urged Tulu speaking people to save the tradition of worshipping daivas.
A number of folklore experts such as Madhyastha Venkappadas Enmur, Dr. Y. N. Shetty, N. K. Salian, and others spoke on this tradition.
The academy felicitated Daivanartaka Gudda Panara Mulur on this occasion.
Umanath Kotian, academy president; Chandrahas Rai, registrar; and Navaneeth Shetty Kadri were also present.
