Mangalore, Nov 14: Fr Vitus Wilson D’Souza formally inaugurated the Pauline Book Exhibition organized by the Daughters of St Paul at Communications Centre, Milagres Church by opening a book.

In his inaugural speech, Fr. Wilson said that, although books are reservoirs of knowledge, the present generation does not show any interest in reading. One of the chief causes for this is the influence of modern technology and electronic media. Since books contain detailed information on a given subject, they are more reliable than electronic sources of information. Books have a great influence on the human mind because they are products of authors’ thoughts, experiences, and ideas. He said that a person who develops the habit of reading will improve his/her knowledge greatly.

Sr Prem D’Souza, the principal of St Agnes College, was the chief guest of the occasion. Fr Thomas Roshan, the assistant parish priest of Milagres Church; Sr Rosario; Sr Nancy; Fr Lawrence; and other bibliophiles were also present during the inauguration function. Sr Michelle made the welcome speech; and Sr Nancy expressed gratitude.

The Pauline Book Exhibition comprises a large collection of books related to youth, parents, children, character, value education, spirituality, motivation, personality development, and so on. The collection also includes prayer books, novels, and bibles.

The exhibition will remain open till Nov 16.
