Death of 33 year old man: Mother, neighbor arrested on murder charges

Puttur, May 11, 2024: A woman was arrested along with a neighbor in connection with the death of her son at Bettampady Kanamoole in Puttur. A murder case has been registered against the duo.

 

The deceased is Chethan (33). It is learnt, Chethan created a ruckus on the night of May 10 under the influence of alcohol and later even visited a neighbor Yusuf’s house and broke the window pane. His mother Umavathi along with her son-in-law rushed to the neighbour’s house but an adamant Chethan refused to return. Later, reportedly Umavathi along with Yusuf tied a chain to his neck and dragged him home. It is learnt, Chethan later suffocated to death while trying to free himself. On seeing him still, his family members rushed him to the hospital but of no avail.

Though initially it was thought to be a case of suicide, on questioning Umavathi revealed the truth following which she along with Yusuf were arrested.
