Belthangady, Oct 31, 2022: K Somanath Nayak of Nagarika Seva Trust, Guruvayanakere who has been  proved guilty in a case of  issuing defamatory staements against Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade as well as Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala despite a court stay order, has surrendered before the Belthangady court on October 31, Monday.

It may be recalled here that a civil court of Belthangady had sentenced Nayak to three months of imprisonment and had imposed a penalty of Rs 4.5 lakhs. Even an arrest warrant was issued against him. Nayak’s appeal in High Court was dismissed following which he had   moved the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court said there was no reason for it to interfere in the verdicts of the Belthangady Court and High Court  and had dismissed the appeal of Nayak on October 19. In this backdrop, he has  surrendered before the Belthangady Court on Monday.
