Discord between couple culminates in husband jumping into the river

Kundapur, July 17, 2024: A discord between a couple which landed them in the police station, culminated in the husband ending his life by jumping into the Varahi river from the Kandlur bridge on July 16, Tuesday.

The deceased is Harish Bovi (40), a professional photographer from Kalavar. Harish and his wife had a quarrel in the morning and in a fit of rage the former reportedly tried to push the latter into a well.

Following this the wife had lodged a police complaint and Harish was summoned to the Kandlur police station. The cops managed to convince the couple to end their discord and sent them home in an autorickshaw. But when the auto neared the Kandlur bridge, Harish asked the driver to slow down and in a fraction of a second jumped out of the autorickshaw and jumped off the bridge.

The body is yet to be traced in the overflowing river. The couple has two daughters.
