Mangalore, Sep 20, 2011 : Fr. Muller Medical College and Deccan Herald organized a lecture titled Medical Education at the Crossroads in the Decennial Memorial Hall of the college yesterday.
Padma Bhushan Dr. B. M. Hegde, the former vice chancellor of Manipal University, delivered the lecture.
Speaking about the origins of diseases, he said that stressful thoughts, ego, and negativity make human cells cancerous. He also spoke of the importance of human touch in the treatment of various ailments. Stating that diseases result from a bad mind, he said that the medical profession is an art and doctors should not forget the human touch in curing diseases.
Fr. Denis D’Sa, the administrator of FMMC; Dr. J. P. Alva, the dean of FMMC; Shivaraj Noronha, the senior manager of Deccan Herald; Dr. Arunachalam, the staff advisor; Dr. Ronald Anil Fernandes, the principal correspondent of Deccan Herald, and others also participated in the lecture.
