Mangalore, June 04, 2014: DK district incharge Ramanath Rai, Minister for forest, environment and ecology,  cordially opened,  in the presence of Minister for sports and youth services Abhaychandra Jain, MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava, police commissioner R Hitendra, SP Dr Sharanappa, ward corporator Deepak Poojari, corporator Shashidhar Hegde and others; the newly-constructed Kavoor police station,June 3.

Addresssing the inaugural function, Ramanath Rai said, "Mangalore city is developing with each day and crime is rapidly increasing along with the development. Control crimes is more complex now and we need well equipped police force. It is a must for the citizens of Mangalore to support the police and also help them in finding solutions. Catching criminals now is a high tech job, police have to work hard in some of the cases and at the same time they have to  protect the city, we should give them facilities".

Minister Abhaychandra Jain, noted that the new police station is spacious which would enable the personnel to work better. "Mangalore is not a small city, it has everything, and so also Moodbidri, which has famous colleges, hospitals, temples and much more. Students come from all over India and other places too, to study in Moodbidri, and hence it needs better police security."

Jain also requested police commissioner R Hitendra to give importance to Moodbidri. MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava congratulated the police department on the new Kavoor station and advised the officers to work for the good of the people at all times.

Police commissioner, R Hitendra speaking on the occasion said that police personnel who will work in the new police station should earn the respect and trust of the people by doing their duty sincerely and promptly.

"Police have to fight for justice and give security to the people. There are three more police stations in Dakshina Kannada that are in rented buildings. Just as Kavoor police station has been now built in this area, the other three police stations should also be built similarly" he said.  The police commissioner also requested the ministers and the MLA to help the department in finding good sights for all the police stations in the near future.
