Mangalore, Nov 8: The Bharat Scouts and Guides Karnataka District Organization organized a District Level Award ceremony for the students and mentors of the scouts and guides at the deputy commissioner’s residence at Collectors Gate near Balmatta on Nov 8, Sunday, at 11 a.m.
Deputy Commissioner Ponnuraj awarded certificates to the achievers and their mentors and made a speech in which he said that society is currently witnessing a decline in moral values. Since children are the future citizens and leaders of society, moral values must be inculcated in them as early as possible. He said: “The issue of preserving the DC’s house as a heritage structure and converting its grounds into a children’s park has been discussed with authorities concerned.”
The scouts, guides, and bulbuls of various organizations entertained the gathering with colorful cultural programmes. The organization donated a sum of Rs. 54,000 for the flood victims of North Karnataka.
