District police launch brand new public relations cell

Mangalore, Feb 4: Rohini K. of the information department officially inaugurated the brand new public relation cell at the SP’s office at a special function organized by the district police on Feb 4, Friday.

Addressing the gathering, SP Dr. A. Subrahmanyeshwar Rao said that the public relations cell has been established with the purpose of disseminating crucial information related to crime and other police issues among media persons, politicians, social clubs, general public, and others.

 

 

                     

 

 

Referring to the fact that the district police now have a Facebook presence and that the public relations cell is updating this Facebook page regularly, the SP said that the purpose of going on Facebook is to keep the police as tech savvy as possible and also to keep in touch with the tech savvy section of Indian society, particularly youngsters.

Sub Inspector Nanda Kumar, who is currently posted at the new public relations cell, is maintaining and updating the Facebook page. The SP also said that SI Nanda is assisted by an IT-trained police constable.

The public can obtain police-related information or share information with the police by using the numbers 9480805300 or 242404. The SP said that this is the first experiment by the DK police to keep in touch with the public through the World Wide Web, which is available 24/7.

He also said that public information boards will be launched at 13 police stations for the efficient dissemination of crucial police-related news and information.

Regarding the police bhavan, he said that it will be constructed by the end of June at the cost of Rs. 45 lakh.
