Mangalore , Nov 15, 2011 : Addressing the gathering at the monthly review meeting of the Karnataka Development Program, Shailaja Bhat, the president of the DK Zilla Panchayat, said that the district, which is now in the 20th position as far as development is concerned, should strive for the top position.

She urged taluk panchayat officials to visit Gram Panchayats and monitor the implementation of various development schemes, ensuring that the district becomes a role model in reaching the target set by the government.

Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, the CEO of the ZP, said that the ZP has launched several projects to decentralize power. He directed officials to listen to public grievances at the ZP level and directed the engineering divisions of the ZP to complete all projects within the given deadline.

Stating that the development projects under Ambedkar Vasanthi Yojane have not achieved the desired target, he said that a separate meeting will be convened at the earliest.

At the meeting, all ZP and TP departments were directed to earmark Saturday afternoons to dispose files. 


Dhanraj and Dhanya Rao, who won medals in the skating competition held at Shanghai, were felicitated with citations and offered Rs. 10,000 each.


Seethamma, the project director; Shivarame Gowda, the deputy secretary; Nazeer, the chief project officer; and others were also present.
