Mangalore, April 6, 2011: A first of its kind reference manual for junior faculty members, young research scholars and postgraduate students of medical, dental and allied health sciences, titled “Biomedical Writing’ was released at a simple function at the K S Hegde Medical Academy Seminar hall on 6th April 2011.

The book, authored by Prof. Arunachalam Kumar, Dean, KS Hegde Medical Academy, schools a novice into the concept and methodology of contributing to quality journals.

 

 

 

 

Dr. K. R. Shetty, Advisor to Nitte University, released the book, former Principal, KMC, in the presence of Prof. Shantharam Shetty, Vice Chancellor, Nitte University. Dr. J. P. Shetty, Registrar, KSMEMA introduced the author. Dr. Arunachalam Kumar spoke on the need for books such as the one released, especially since the statutory bodies like MCI and DCI have now mandated research publications as compulsory for faculty of medical and dental colleges.

Dr. Shantharam Shetty announced that Nitte University would reimburse the entire cost of the book, mentioning that the publication will help young professionals in the college to hone up their research skills. Dr. K. R. Shetty, while congratulating Dr. Kumar stressed that master over the art of writing is a perquisite for success in medical profession. Two short videos on the author and his contributions to science and research were screened on the occasion.
