Mangaluru, Dec 22, 2022: Professor (Dr) Lekha Pandit, Neurologist and Director of Neuro Science at K.S.Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte (Deemed to be University) is first in the district awarded by the National Academy of Science, India.
On the occasion of felicitation programme held at Avishkar Auditorium, AB Shetty Dental College, Deralakatte to Dr. Lekha Pandit, Director of Centre for Advanced Neurological Research, who is a first woman in Dakshina Kannada district for achieving this award, the chancellor of Nitte University Shri N.V. Hegde in his speech said that prioritizing quality in profession, engaging in neuroscience research by becoming nationally recognized in research Dr.Lekha Pandit has brought a dignity to Nitte University.
He also said that Nitte University is having multiple institutions with different professional courses wherein more than 30 thousand students are studying and they are provided with well-equipped system in every department. Over the next six to seven years 450 to 500 crorescapital investment plan has been set for thebeginning ofvarious upgraded sections. At the same time, expectation of excellent results should be seen from all the departments.
The chief guest of this function Padma Vibhushan awardee Prof. Dr. M S Valiathan, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Former President, Indian National Science Academy & National Research Professor, Government of India delivered a speech that in the medical field we should focus on our demand based research rather than persuading rank, then only our demand can be met to some extent, otherwise, import from abroad cannot be avoided.
Prof (Dr) Shantharam Shetty, Pro-chancellor, Hospital Management, Nitte University gave congratulatory words. Prof (Dr) P.S. Prakash, Dean KSHEMAwas present in the programme, Prof (Dr) Sathish Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor of Nitte welcomed the gathering. Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. M.S. Moodithaya introduced the chief guest Dr. Valiyatthan. Prof (Dr) Siddarth Shetty of Orthopedics department narrated the program. Dr. Harsha Halahalli, Registrar of Nitte (Deemed to be university) gave vote of thanks.
Prof Dr. Lekha in her speech said that there is still much to be done.This achievement is due to the trust of Nitte university placed on me and the cooperation of my fellow staff. This gave me more responsibility to higher work and it is my desire to raise the name of organization to greater heights.
