Mangaluru, Feb 9, 2025: Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, Chairman of the South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank, has been elected as the National President of the National Press Council of India (Social Cause Responsibility Division). The announcement was made on Friday, recognizing his lifelong dedication to the cooperative sector and social service, earning him the title of ‘Sahakara Ratna.’
Dr. Rajendra Kumar has been instrumental in driving impactful initiatives in the cooperative and social service sectors, garnering nationwide recognition for his leadership. His appointment was unanimously endorsed by the council’s selection committee and advisory board in acknowledgment of his significant contributions to society.
The National Press Council of India, registered under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, functions within the constitutional framework of India. The advisory board recommending Dr. Kumar’s appointment includes notable figures such as retired Justice Nitte Santosh Hegde, ‘Nadoja’ Justice Dr. S.R. Nayak, Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj S. Horatti, Bengaluru Rural MP Dr. C.N. Manjunath, retired IPS officer K.C. Ramamurthy, and NPCI President Shravan Laxman.
