Mangaluru, February 10, 2025: The prestigious Dr. P. Dayananda Pai SBF Youth Festival 2025, organized by Sangeet Bharati Pratishtan, successfully concluded in the city on Sunday with the national-level music competition and the felicitation of winners.
The jury panel for the competition included Padma Shri awardee and eminent flutist Pandit Ronu Majumdar, internationally acclaimed artists Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, young tabla virtuoso Pandit Yashwant Vaishnav, Vidushi Poornima Bhat Kulkarni, Dr. Shashank Maktedar, and Sangeet Bharati Pratishtan President Ustad Rafiq Khan, all of whom were honored at the event.
Presiding over the function, Ustad Rafiq Khan addressed the gathering. Krishna Hegde from MRPL, Trustee Ankush N. Nayak, and other dignitaries were present. Dr. Usha Prabha N. Nayak, Secretary of Sangeet Bharati Pratishtan, delivered the welcome address, while Vice President Prof. Narendra L. Nayak extended a warm reception to the guests. The event was hosted by lecturer Druthi Hegde, with key contributions from treasurer Karunakar Balkur and trustees Murulidhar G. Shenai, Dr. Ramesh K.G., and Ujwal Pradeep.

The final round featured 24 talented artists between the ages of 18 and 30.

2nd Place: Vibha Hegde, Yellapur
3rd Place: Mitra Bhattacharya, Kolkata
Instrumental category:
1st Place: Madhav Kalra, New Delhi
2nd Place: Aditya Abhijit Deshpande, Pune
3rd Place: Karthik Bhatt, Panemangalore
The winners were awarded ₹60,000 for first place, ₹40,000 for second place, and ₹20,000 for third place. Additionally, Ishan Ghosh (Kolkata) and Madhav Kalra (New Delhi) were honored with the prestigious ’Swar Bharati’ title. The awardees also gave mesmerizing performances at the event.
A Captivating Musical Performance
A mesmerizing jugalbandi featuring flutist Pandit Ronu Majumdar, vocalist Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, and sitar maestro Ustad Rafiq Khan enthralled the audience. They were accompanied by Pandit Yashwant Vaishnav on tabla and Prof. Narendra L. Nayak on harmonium.
