Uppinangady, Oct 18, 2021: An elderly man from Gerukatte Parappu has jumped into the Netravathi river and committed suicide on October 18, Monday.

The deceased is Muttappa Shetty (70). He  had jumped off the Netravathi bridge on the Uppinangady-Belthangady road. Though a few passersby who saw him jumping off the bridge, tried to rescue him, it proved to be a futile exercise.
