Mangalore, Sep 1, 2013: Hema Naik, a renowned Konkani author known for her feministic writings, participated in a Meet the Author programme held at Bishop’s House Hall on August 31, Saturday and interacted with literary enthusiasts.
During her interactions, Hema Naik delved on her life, her childhood and the factors that helped her emerge as a writer.
Gokuldas Prabhu, Governing Council Member of Sahitya Academy, Delhi said Hema Naik has through her writings been a critique of feudal patriarchy and male chauvinism. Young writers who aspire for a change and rebel against the system need to take a cue from her and derive inspiration from her, he said. Her writings triggered a new wave in Konkani literature, he observed.
