Eminent industrialist T R Shenoy passes away

Mangaluru, Dec.16, 2022: Eminent industrialist, Technical Director of Lamina Suspension Products Ltd. T. R. Shenoy passes away on Thursday, 15th December 2022. He was 85 years. He died in the morning -10 AM peacefully. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

Sri Tonse Ramesh Shenoy was born on 14th April 1937 at Mulky as the third son among six brothers and three sisters. His parents were late Sri M. Gopalkrishna Shenoy, a document writer of Udupi and Smt. Shantha Shenoy. After schooling at Christian High School, Udupi, he did PUC at MGM College, Udupi and went on to study engineering at the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) at Mesra, Ranchi during 1956-60.
 
On acquiring his B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering, he joined Canara Workshops Ltd., Mangalore as Graduate Engineer in the year 1960. Working for 15 years till 1975 as Production in Charge of the company’s leaf springs factory gave him the opportunity to work closely under the guidance of the legendary V. S. Kudva, who inspired him and he considers him as his mentor.

The year 1976 saw a new beginning in his life as he joined his colleague and friend Sri N. Vinay Hegde to start Lamina Suspension Products Ltd. This project was a unique venture as for the first time a leaf spring factory was started as a small scale industry. This concept was an instant success and it also inspired the birth of many small scale leaf spring factories in Mangalore and all over India.
